Perfect Places in Atlanta to Celebrate Someone Special
This past weekend I turned thirty-five, for some reason writing it out instead of listing the numeric, seems a little less scary! I was surrounded by family and friends all weekend and honestly, was celebrated so thoughtfully. Amongst the phone calls, Facebook posts, and texts, were days dates, dinners, and activities…all the celebrate me! I’ve put together a little post of all the fun things my husband, friends and family compiled into the celebration.
If you’re in Atlanta and looking to celebrate an elevated girl, here are some ideas for you.
Places to Eat:
Goldberg's
There are a variety of locations, but don’t sleep on Goldberg’s for breakfast or lunch. My bestie took me to the Buckhead location for a ladies lunch and it was fabulous. Good service, friendly faces, and it’s always packed, be sure to prepare accordingly to anticipate a wait. A bagel for a birthday hits the spot just right!
Ray's on the River
I feel like Ray’s on the River is an iconic staple on the Chattahoochee River, yet oftentimes forgotten about for smaller occasions or lunch. My mom knows my love for seafood so opted to take me here for my birthday lunch! I had the lobster roll and truffle fries which were both phenomenal, and a large enough portion to bring half home. She had the prime rib sandwich and brussel sprouts and those sprouts were amazing! For dessert we opted for the warm butter cake and it literally just melted in your mouth! Outside of the food, the views are just as great.
Kinjo Sushi
Kinjo is a located in The Interlock on the Westside, and is fairly new, having just been open since 2022. I most definitely suggest making reservations as the restaurant itself is very intimate, with limited seating. If you don’t have a reservation, don’t fret and sit at the bar! Everyone I saw appeared to be having a grand time meeting new people while seated at the bar. Even if you don’t meet anyone, you can enjoy watching the bartender make fabulous Kinjo cocktails!
The food was stellar, but portions are smaller.
Polaris
One of two revolving restaurants in downtown Atlanta, Polaris sits atop the Hyatt. Serving all the views and feels, it’s a great place for drinks, dinner, or just dessert. In my opinion, you’d want to maximize your stay so you can make a full rotation, taking about one hour and twenty minutes. It’s beautiful at night; however, getting to see the view in the evening light to orient yourself with the city from above is a plus!
We had a 5:30 PM dinner reservation in hopes to see the sunset, but dreary January didn’t put on much of a sunset. I highly recommend the winter bloom for a drink, it was divine! The menu is seasonal (changing about every 3-4 months), but we started with the sourdough bread. I order the Sea Bass paired with brussel sprouts and my husband ordered the steak Oscar with crap and potatoes. I wanted to bathe in the béarnaise sauce that they served with the steak. Finally, for dessert he ordered the Polaris blue dome and I had the sticky toffee pudding. All were great!
From the views and service to the food, everything was grand about this evening. I couldn’t recommend the Polaris more!
Tip: I do recommend valeting at the Hyatt; the Polaris will provide you validation.
Things to Do:
Nadora Sky - Permanent Jewelry
I already have two permanent bracelets but had mentioned over Christmas wanting another. My mom remembered, so found Nadora Sky in Marietta to make it happen. When I tell you that the studio is absolutely adorable and Grace, the owner, is so sweet – just take my word for it! My mom made an appointment online, we dropped by, picked out my new chain and within fifteen minutes were done. Grace made the process so smooth and enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a fun girls activity or someone to host your next party, don’t sleep on Nadora Sky!
Lot 23 - Candle Making
An absolute gem of a find, Lot 23 Chandler Co. My work bestie knows how much I love candles so surprised me with the ability to make a few of our own! Lot 23 offers several classes, perfume making, candle making, or a combination of them both. We did the candle making only; however, there were others in our group that did both or perfume. The classes are all BYOB, with Lot 23 providing vintage glassware. The class itself is more focused on scents than the actual candle or perfume making process I felt. There are 12 scents to choose from and you try to guess the scents prior to actually beginning to make your candles. It’s a fun experience and very interactive. The only down side, is you won’t walk with your candles on the day of the class; you have to return to pick them up. For a full view of the experience watch my TikTok video!
Tip: Don’t make dinner reservations immediately following, as the class ran long and you will miss them!
